The Angul district of Odisha has experienced rapid economic growth, leading to increased environmental degradation. Resource pressure and a lack of sustainability awareness hinder conservation and development. Environmental stewardship education is crucial for future generations to address these challenges and promote eco-friendly behaviour.
Jindal Foundation, in collaboration with the District Administration, established eco-clubs in 259 schools across Angul District. These eco-clubs provide a platform for over 1 lakh students to participate in meaningful environmental activities and projects. By fostering awareness and training, the programme encourages the adoption of sustainable practices such as Reduce, Reuse, Repair, and Recycle, promoting the efficient use of resources. The initiative empowers students to influence their communities, extending environmental learning beyond school curricula.
