In rural India, access to affordable menstrual hygiene products is limited, leading to poor menstrual health among adolescent girls and women. Many individuals cannot afford sanitary napkins, and there is a lack of awareness on menstrual hygiene, resulting in potential health risks.
The Jindal Foundation's Shubhangi project seeks to address this gap by producing and distributing affordable, low-cost sanitary napkins. The initiative also promotes menstrual health education and employs a social business model that empowers women entrepreneurs who manufacture and distribute these napkins. The project is integrated with the Kishori Express and Vatsalya projects, ensuring that sanitary napkins are distributed free of cost to those in need.
