Limited income, insufficient technical training, and lack of diversified farming options hinder the economic stability of farmers in rural areas. Moreover, there is a lack of access to diversified agricultural ventures that could provide consistent cash flow.
The Jindal Foundation has launched an intensive mushroom cultivation project to support rural farmers and entrepreneurs by establishing mushroom cultivation and spawn production through Common Interest Groups (CIGs). Support for mushroom farmers now includes technical assistance from resource centres, a processing unit turning mushrooms into products like papad, badi, and pickles, and a federation fostering collaboration and sustainability.
