In India, many individuals and organisations at the grassroots level perform extraordinary acts of courage, perseverance, and innovation but remain unrecognised for their contributions to society. These unsung heroes and changemakers lack platforms to showcase their impact and gain the support necessary to amplify their efforts and sustain their initiatives.

The Jindal Foundation launched the Swayamsiddh Samman in 2015 to identify, reward, and nurture grassroots talent and unsung heroes across India.

First Phase:Awards presented in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand to individuals who benefitted from Jindal Foundation’s initiatives and extended their positive influence in society.

National Expansion: The programme was rebranded as the Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman, receiving over 350 entries nationwide. A total of 25 individuals and organisations were honoured for their remarkable contributions with cash prizes of ₹1 lakh and certificates of appreciation. Special recognition was awarded to six others with ₹50,000 and certificates.

Subsequent Editions: The third edition in December 2019 honoured 17 individuals and 10 organisations for their exemplary work in social development.
