Despite being a premier centre for enhancing education and creativity among children, National Bal Bhavan (NBB) lacked adequate facilities to promote solo sports with career potential. With India's emergence as a global player in sports like badminton, chess, and shooting, there was a pressing need to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure and coaching for budding athletes.
The Jindal Foundation spearheaded the renovation of the existing sports centre at Bal Bhavan, transforming it into a modern NBB Sports Centre. The revamped facility introduced and fostered participation in solo sports such as shooting, chess, and carom, ensuring children have access to quality infrastructure and expert coaching. A dedicated shooting coach was also appointed to guide and mentor young aspirants.
